I woke up in the middle of the night with intense pain in my incisions and then a few hours later began shaking like a leaf. Decided to head to the ER where they found that my incision under my right arm had opened and was infected. So, that was unexpected. IV antibiotics helped and now I'm back home.

Managing the pain of the incisions continues to be challenging. I spoke with the cancer care coordinator this morning who said that this was common and prescribed a topical lidocaine that I hope will reduce some of the sensitivity because, honestly, it's driving me a bit mad. She also said that the sutures used probably wouldn't be completely dissolved until about six months after surgery which might explain some of the discomfort I'm feeling. I think I've been doing wayyyy toooo much and have probably been pulling some of the incisions.
