Breast Cancer Day 78
I'm now five weeks post double mastectomy and am FINALLY starting to feel better. Instead of level 4 to 6 pain, I'm now down to level 2-3. What a relief. I'm able to go without my compression bandage a little now and am starting in a new breast cancer support group in about a week.
I wasn't prepared for, and didn't understand, just how difficult this surgery would be. It was necessary and I have no regrets but, at the same time, it has been a lesson in humility, in pain and in gratitude for those who have sent cards, prayers and wished me well.
Of course, I wouldn't be here today without the love from my sister and brother in law who moved in for the duration to help me get better. I'm now on my own again and feeling maybe about 70% of normal. Getting better, that's for sure.
