Breast Cancer Day 40 - You find cancer survivors in the most unexpected places
Just days from surgery and I met a homeless woman outside my local grocery story who was so kind. It was a terribly hot day and I asked if I could get her anything and she said no. I offered a cold drink and she said "sure." I bought a few more things for her and then sat and had a nice chat. When I shared my upcoming surgery, she shared that she was a lung cancer survivor. Medical bankruptcy played a huge role in her homelessness.
Cancer survivors are everywhere. They are so kind and supportive. So, too, are those who have lost family and friends to this disease. What a humbling journey this has been.
