I hope this rant finds you well. My intention, apart from blowing off steam, is to actually have an open debate about the home office hype and the actual downsides of working from home.
I think that it is more than justified to demand being allowed to work remotely. But I think it's just as valid to self-reflect a little bit. Why do so many people nowadays think of going to the office as a chore, as something that sucks and they would rather avoid altogether?
How has sitting at home doing your laundry while having a "meeting" become a desirable model of work? Have we all lost the joy of socializeing? Oh, I forgot, of course, in the age of tiktok, we are all neurodivergent quirk-ridden uber-nerds who "hate humans" (and that is somehow a cool thing to say, although all we ever got to do in life is thanks to society but it's so edgy to hate people, no?)... yeah, that... I just don't get THAT. So I made a video about why that is, advocating for the real office, for real connections, for life off the screen actually.
Do you agree with me? Or do you have another opinion totally? Please share it in a respectful manner and only after you have watched the full video, because otherwise, what are we even talking about? And yes, I am aware that we're not actually "talking" even. Precisely my point! Human interaction matters.
