00:09 - Modelling the floors and ceilings
Now we are going to model the floors and ceilings. The floors and ceilings are easily modelled using the same methods as modelling the walls. Use line and extrude. Each floor and Ceiling we will set it to about
Just some quick revision and shortcuts.
Top view - 'T'
Front view - 'F'
Move - 'W'
Rotate 'E'
01:05 - Putting in the Doors and windows
Before we continue, lets rename our meshes to something that looks recognizable. Like SM_Outerwalls etc.
Go to the following sites to download the meshes.
Put them all in a single place where its easily accessible so that you can link the bitmaps easily later.
Open the Door 3ds max file and copy and paste. Alternatively you can import directly.
As we can see in the original layout, the toilet door is not 900mm wide. So this door that we downloaded cannot fit into the 'hole' that we created. We will use the edit mesh modifier to modify the wall so that it can now fit the door.
07:47 - Copy and paste the window object.
Use the scale tool to scale down the window by 70 percent.
This window model is also good for UE4 as its using primitives shapes (like boxes) to do the window without very complex modifiers. This is ideal for UE4. Especially when you are using static lighting because lightmaps don't really work well for the more complex window models.
We create instances of the window to make 2 sets of large windows.
Then we use the line and connect and extrude tool again to model the walls.
19:09 - Rename all the created static meshes to make things tidy.
20:40 - Download 3d models :
The models that we use for the interior scene are from 3dsky.org
The links and list of models can be found in our gumroad page.
