00:09 - Introduction:
We are now going to take the CAD floor layout file in our previous lesson, import it into 3ds max and start modelling.
A quick overview of 3ds Max. for you to get started modelling.
We will not spend too much time in 3ds max and go through every details, just enough to get you started.
Please reach out to us if you have any difficulties or questions.

01:08 - Initial Setup - Copy and paste Script:
First we are going to set up the units. Traditionally we always model in milimeters. In Unreal Engine the native modelling measurements are in CM, but because of unreal studio, it convert our models nicely for us.
Next we want to set up a few scripts.
The copy paste script allows us to copy from one instance of 3ds max to another without having to save and import.
Go to http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scr... and download the scripts.

04:30 - Initial Setup - Relink Bitmaps:
The other tool that i want to install is relink bitmaps. Sometimes when we download models, the path of the bitmaps and materials of the models are different. Maybe when he originally create it it is stored in D:\ but now we are storing in c:\
The tool automatically locates all the missing bitmaps and relink them. So its very useful.
got to https://www.colinsenner.com/scripts/r...
Use the same method to install it. The next time you open up 3ds max, there should be a link at the top to use the tool.

06:01 - Initial Setup - Unreal Studio:
Unreal studio is the software that helps to transfer all the models that we have done into unreal engine. We will go through it more later but if you have not done so, please go to the unreal engine website to download it.
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/si...
There should be 2 parts to it, one for 3ds max, the other for unreal engine.
Please download and install the 2 parts if you have not done so.

07:14 - Setting up Axis contrains and Snapping:
Set up your Axis constrains. This is very important and makes your life a lot easier when you are using it with the snap tool.
Set up snapping

08:41 - Navigating around:
Select, Move, Rotate Scale
Zoom extents all selected
Middle Mouse to Pan in 2d space, Alt+ Middle Mouse to pan in 3d space
