Custom grids are the best way for you to create the design and layout that you envision for your app. Here’s how to do it:
On the left hand side of the screen, click on grid.
From here, you can toggle the grid on and off and also change the gridline, as well as subdivisions.
However, the grid system is the goldmine here. To activate the system, click on the arrow beside “grid system”. Now, you can change the number of columns, column width, gutter width, as well as margins. This is the absolute best way to make sure your various screen elements are aligned and positioned the way you envision.
For example, say you want to create a layout that stretches to the edge of the screen, and also has a minimal gutter. To do this, we would set margins to zero, and reduce the gutter width to 20.
Now, by also using the gridline, we can confidently begin placing items on the screen, knowing that they will be placed exactly where we want. In this case, our image will stretch to the edge of the screen, and our buttons will be aligned within the two columns.
Here’s one more thing you’ll want to know about: To quickly toggle the grid on or off, press cmd +’. To toggle the grid system on or off, press cmd + \. This way, you can quickly view your screen without distraction.
