A day in the life of a prosthetist
Experience a day in the life of Ambrose, a prosthetic technician with NUH who fabricates customised lifelike and realistic silicon prostheses for patients who have lost their forearm or digits. Not only do these prostheses help patients restore their body image, but they also aid in passive hand functions to allow for typing, holding phone or chopsticks, etc.
The only two such prosthetists in Singapore are both from the same team in NUH. From assessing the patients’ stump to recommending the appropriate prosthesis to fabricating the prosthesis, everything is done in-house in NUH by the two of them.
