In this video, we will talk about the genetic data of a representative of the ancient Turks – a princess, and after her marriage to the emperor of the Chinese-Xianbian dynasty of the Northern Zhou-Wu-di, the empress – Ashina from the family of the same name, the daughter of Mukan Kagan, the third kagan of the ancient Turks - Ashin Syjin, under whom the Turkic Kaganate expanded its borders from Yellow to The Black Sea, becoming the largest empire of that time. By the way, about the origin and appearance of Ashina's spouse - the third emperor of the Sino-Xianbian dynasty of the Northern Zhou-Wu-di (Yuwen Yun).
And in this study, the authors, having analyzed the genetic profile of Empress Ashina, try to answer three key questions:
1. What was the origin of the ancient Turks?
2. Is there a genetic link between Ashina and other Turkic peoples, as well as various populations of the Central and Eastern Steppe after the Iron Age?
3. Is there a genetic link between the ancient Turks and modern Turkic-speaking peoples?
