Social species inevitably experience intragroup competition. These conflicts can degenerate into aggression and lead to negative consequences, such as a violation of group cohesion and social relations. One way to cope with these negative consequences is to restore relations after conflicts, which is called reconciliation. If species survival depends on group collaboration, it is expected that reconciliation will occur more often than species less dependent on cooperation. Scientists decided to investigate this behavior in dogs and wolves. Because wolves, to a large extent, depend on cooperation in hunting and reproduction, including custody of the offspring and protection of the territories. And dogs seem less social, forming relationships with other dogs, with food and access to females. Despite the fact that there are stray dogs that participate in joint protection of territories, sometimes hunting and raising puppies, they are mostly garbage collectors and demonstrate a flexible and more disorderly mating system, and puppies are raised mainly by mothers. Earlier studies have shown that wolves tend to reconcile from 44% to 53%, which is relatively large compared to other species. For example, hyenas showed 16.6%, common chimpanzees - 16.3%, bonobos - 35.6%, crows - 0.16%, ordinary game toys - 31%, tamarins from 24.7% to 48.3% and meerkats - 0%.
