What is WPS and how does it work?
WPS stands for WiFi Protected Setup. WPS is a feature that was developed to make it easier for users to connect devices to their WiFi networks in their homes.
If WPS is enabled and activated, a router will broadcast a message to the surrounding area to see if there are devices that want to connect to its WiFi networks. If a device responds to this message with a request to connect to the router’s WiFi network, the router will allow the device to establish a connection with the WiFi network without having to provide a password.
This all happens in a matter of seconds, and it can be a very convenient feature for adding smart devices (e.g. smart TVs) to a WiFi network, or during the initial setup of the WiFi network.
