How to connect a laptop and router with an ethernet cable
When it comes to connecting your laptop and router, you first need to find the ethernet port on your laptop. This is usually located on one side of the device.

Once you’ve located the ethernet port on your laptop, connect one end of the ethernet cable to that port.
The next step is to connect the other end of the ethernet cable to your router.
The ethernet ports on your router are usually on the back of the device. An important note is that you need to connect the ethernet cable to one of the ethernet ports that are labeled “LAN” or “Ethernet”. There should be a separate ethernet port labeled “WAN” or “Internet” that is reserved for the ethernet cable used to connect your modem and router. Do not connect your laptop to this ethernet port.
Connect the ethernet cable to any of the available “LAN” or “Ethernet” ports on your router. This will complete the connection and provide your laptop with a wired connection to the internet.
