In this tutorial you are going to learn How to Use Picture in Picture Mode on Mac.

Picture in Picture displays a small video window which stays on top of the screen and is open all the time. If you switch app, the video doesn’t get buried under anything on your screen. In order for Picture in Picture to work, the website needs to implement it. With web videos you’ll see Picture in Picture icon on the video control bar once you start playing it.

When you click it a small video pops up and places itself in a corner of your screen. Web page in safari says “Video is playing in Picture in Picture mode”:

You can change the corner placement by dragging the windows. It always has to be in a corner. You can resize the window by dragging from the corner. There are also 3 buttons available: close, pause, go back to standard video view:

In order to scrub the video, you will need to go back to the safari page. The window itself does not give an ability to scrub the video.
