MacOS Mojave introduces a new way to capture the screen of your mac. You no longer need quicktime for this. Simply press CMD+SHIFT+5 and choose whether you want the entire screen captured or just the portion of it. With the latter you can drag and position the selection to include what you need captured. Now, click record and the recording will start. After you are done, click the stop button on the top menu bar. A thumbnail of the video will appear on the bottom right side. Clicking on it will bring a preview of the video. You can now playback the recording and then click Done if you want to keep it or click the trashcan icon if you want to remove it.
You can also just dismiss the thumbnail and it will disappear in a few seconds, saving the file on your desktop.
To change the location of files being saved click on Options after you press CMD+SHIFT+5 and select the desired location.
