The Right Doesn't Hate the Left!
There has been a lot of fearmongering suggesting that people on the right don't support LGBTQIA+ or Women's rights, and things like that. Let's set the record straight:
We oppose bullying. If someone is being treated poorly or denied their freedom, we should stand up for them. Period. But one big reason why we swung so hard to the right is because the left has been bullying people with traditional values, while portraying itself as the victim.
The issues that we argue about are all about advocacy, not about denying people their rights. It's about advocacy. Advocacy for unborn children because they can't speak for themselves. Advocacy for women in women's sports who deserve an equal playing field. Advocacy for minor children who are below the age of consent and are not mentally mature enough to process complex topics surrounding sexuality.
We want the right to think people who do weird things are weird. We want the right to have our own silos and groups where we focus on things that interest us, without having the identity politics of others thrust unnaturally into that space. We aren't saying there should be fewer food types at the buffet. We just want the right to take it or leave it, and we don't want to mix our foods.
Many of the policies that a new Republican Mandate will introduce to the American people may lead to greater peace and prosperity for the average American - including the people on the left who voted the other way. But let's be real: Identity politics aren't the main thing that any of us spend our whole lives thinking about. Normal people aren't defined by abortion and sexual counter culture. Normal people just want to have a happy, peaceful, satisfying life.
So let's take a break from making everything about these niche issues - and go back to the best part of American society: Just being - regardless of how we identify - normal Americans, having normal conversations, and respecting the fact that we don't need to agree or align on everything.
