Similar Paths, Different Perspectives
It's interesting how often we can be doing the same things as other people, following similar paths, even sharing similar values - but driven by vastly different philosophies and perspectives. And so sometimes you can be in the presence of people who seem like they should be good fellowship, and yet feel terribly alone.
I think sometimes it's better to just be alone - and deal with yourself only - than it is to be surrounded by people who are ignorant or self-centered, or self-deceived in some way. That isn't to say that everyone doesn't have redeeming qualities. It's just easier to be alone by yourself, than to feel alone when you are surrounded by others.
Life is filled with people who are self-deceived in some way, because it's easy to do. It's hard to go it alone, to not have a tribe to be part of. And while having freedom and agency are amazing, sometimes I do think that people who just blindly believe may have a better experience - because their lives are - even if misguided - perhaps less lonely.
