How does one repent when one has done something wrong? The Rambam - Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon gives us the keys to mastering and understanding what we need to do to fully repent from those things we have done wrong.
Repentance in the Torah sense is not just the idea of feeling bad about everything. Rather, repentance is the idea of returning to God. We're going to learn how to return to God and how to return to our selves -- our souls. Let us work through these laws together with a view to connecting with ourselves and with God to overcome the many obstacles we've been through in our lives.
In today's lesson we learn Chapter 3, Halachot 9-14 and conclude Chapter 3. We will learn about:
Apostates
The dangers of causing the many to sin
The dangers of separating oneself from the main community
Betraying a fellow Jew -- and its implications
Imposing fear upon the community for one's own sake
Additional sins one should be very wary about committing. We may not even realise how awful these particular sins are. It is because of this that we must be extra careful to avoid these life threatening sins.
Ultimately - Teshuvah helps at any point in time. We must never give up even if our entire lives have gone by. It is never too late to return to God and to do the right thing.
Peace -- Peace -- to those who are far and to those who are near, says God, and I shall heal him...
