The Power of Words -- The Power of Your Words: Dvar Torah Parshat Devarim
Parshat Devarim begins with Moshe opening up with a speech towards the Children of Israel. The 5th Book of the Torah is called Devarim because it is named after the very first verse in the Torah where Moshe speaks out "Devarim" -- things or words to Bnei Yisrael.
What can we learn from the word "Devarim"? What exactly are words in any case?! It is of interest to note how the entire Creation came about through the words of God and here again we see words playing an important role in shaping the purpose of the Bnei Yisrael -- who are to become the Jewish people in essence.
In this Torah thought, we will be examining the power of words and the power of OUR words. I'll be sharing some exciting stories to help us understand the dangers of using our words for bad -- and ultimately learning that words are here to create wonderful things in life and to help others. While words can tear people apart, they can also heal and help them.
