In this video I am going to be sharing with you the approach taken by Rabbi Daniel Frisch (1935-2005) -- the author of the 23 volume Matok Midvash commentary on the Zohar -- as to how to proceed when one embarks upon the path of the study of Kabbalah.

When one approaches the learning of Jewish mysticism, one might find oneself confused as to the approach one should take. My video is concerned with an authentic mainstream approach and is meant for the serious student wishing to learn Jewish mysticism.

We will be covering a number of letters that Rabbi Frisch wrote to some students who wrote to him asking how they should approach their studies in Kabbalah. Here you will hear the answer from an expert in the field -- as we work through the letters together.

In addition, I will be sharing a little more about who the Matok Midvash was. I'll also be sharing some stories concerned with helping us to understand the importance of various qualities we need to take with us into our learning. I've included a fascinating story of how the Yeshivah Shaar HaShamayim in Jerusalem came to be built.

We'll be learning about the importance of studying Torah in general as well as observing the Mitzvot. We'll be covering the best times to learn this mystical study and how one should do so in purity and holiness.

It's a jam-packed somewhat lengthy lesson, but feel free to stop the lesson at any time and return to it from that point onwards in another listening session. There's really a lot here and if you listen in, you will get a very rounded approach in where to begin (if you're serious!) and how to approach your studies.

With this, all that we ask for is the blessing of the Creator that we should all merit to understand the mysteries as shared within the exciting area of Jewish study.
