First Year Dahlia Growing Tips
I learned three important things the first year we grew dahlias. These tips will help you make the most of your gardening season.
1.) Stake your Dahlias with Hortanova Netting
Using stakes and string is possible but not very pretty looking or efficient. We find that netting is easy to install and discreet and has many other uses in the garden.
2.) Don't worry about tuber size
Your tubers will come in different sizes and shapes. That will not determinate the final size of the plant. Instead, look for healthy tubers from a reputable company.
3.) Provide FULL SUN!
Dahlias need lots of sun power to make huge, stunning blooms. The more shade you give them, the slower they will bloom and the smaller your plants will be.
