I’ve said it many times before, when you’re under a really heavy weight in a high pressure situation, its hard to “think” during the lift.

Just focusing on getting it done in any way possible is all you can do. The more reps in training you perform the better this will become over time.You can control your setup thoughtfully however.

When trying to get in a position to lift a heavy weight, I recommend breaking your set up into a few separate steps.

This makes it easier to keep focused and keep consistent position under pressure like a 1RM or a comp liftJust the other day, I had somebody who was trying to do this for Squats.

He was trying to set his hands, lock in his upper back, get his brace down, whilst setting the feet and everything else thats going on at the same time.He was half getting everything right but nothing fully

Break things up and you’ll be much better off in ALL of your big lifts - a consistent setup is a consistent lift
