This video shows how to check bad blocks on SD cards in Windows 10/11? A bad sector is a disk sector on a disk storage unit that is unreadable. Any information written to a bad sector is usually lost. When your SD card is damaged with bad sectors, it may become unusable.
To check for bad blocks on SD cards, we need to download a program called DiskGenius. It is free and safe partition manager software. The free edition can scan hard drives, SSDs, memory cards, USB flash drives, and other devices to verify and repair bad sectors. Free download the software: https://www.diskgenius.com/free.php
Step 1. Install and launch DiskGenius Free Edition. on the left-hand side, you can see all disks and partitions available on my computer. Select the SD card for which you want to check for bad blocks, then right-click and choose “Verify Or Repair Bad Sectors”.
Step 2. Click “Start Verify”, and the application will begin scanning the SD card to check for bad sectors. The process may take some time, so please be patient.
Step 3. If you look at the right-hand side, you can see labels such as excellent, good, normal, general, poor, severe, and damaged. If any blocks are marked as damaged and appear red, it indicates bad sectors.
Note: If you start seeing bad sectors on the SD card, it’s time to back up your data and start thinking about replacing the SD card with a new one. Also, if you have a suspicion that your SD card is failing, you should always back up your data immediately even before you run any extensive tests.
