Permanently delete files
This video will show you how to delete files permanently so that they cannot be recovered even with the most advanced data recovery software.
1. After launching DiskGenius, navigate to the files or folders you want to permanently delete. To select multiple files or folders, hold down the Control key or the Shift key. Alternatively, you can select a range of items by dragging the mouse.
2. Right-click on the selected items and choose Delete Files Permanently.
3. We can choose characters to overwrite the files, for example, we can overwrite them with zeros, random data, or other characters. We should also choose the option “Delete File Record in MFT”, as this will remove the directory entries from the file system.
4. Click the Permanently Delete button.
5. A new window appears asking you to confirm the deletion. Click the delete button, and DiskGenius will securely delete and overwrite the selected files.
6. The time taken by the process mainly depends on the size and number of files to be deleted. Be patient and wait for the process to finish.
