Velvet-fronted Nuthatch is a bird that is fairly common in many tropical Asian forests but one that is often high up in trees so it was fantastic to see a pair of Velvet-fronted Nuthatches, Sitta frontalis, come to feed in front of me while sitting in a hide at Doi Inthanon National Park in northern Thailand where this nuthatch is known as นกไต่ไม้หน้าผากกำมะหยี่. Velvt-fronted Nuthatch at such close range is rare for bird watchers and this hide always provides some amazing close up views of a variety of birds.
