Almost the whole world population of Baikal Teal spend the winter on the Guem River near Gunsan, South Korea. Watching these birds gather and take flight in the evening, before they head to rice fields to feed, is an amazing spectacle. The first time I saw this I could not believe that half a million Baikal Teal, Sibrionetta formosa, would all be in one place, in one flock. Almost the entire world population of Baikal Teal winter in South Korea in one flock.
