The Timurid Conquests (1370–1405) were a series of extensive military campaigns led by Timur, also known as Tamerlane, who sought to revive the Mongol Empire's legacy. Timur began his conquests by securing control over Central Asia, including Persia, and expanded his empire westward into the Caucasus, Mesopotamia, and Anatolia. His invasions reached as far as Delhi in India, which he sacked in 1398, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Timur's military strategy combined swift cavalry movements with psychological warfare, instilling fear through mass executions and destruction. By the end of his campaigns, Timur had created a vast empire that stretched from the Indus River to the Mediterranean Sea. His conquests laid the groundwork for the rise of successor states, most notably the Mughal Empire in India, and significantly reshaped the political and cultural landscape of the medieval Islamic world.
