Method 1: Using the Ribbon
Open Your Workbook:
Open your workbook and select the column to the right of where you want to insert a new column. I will insert a new column before column D. Therefore, I will click on the column heading D.
Insert a Column:
Go to the 'Home' tab on the Ribbon.
In the 'Cells' group, click 'Insert'.
From the dropdown menu, select 'Insert Sheet Columns'.
Observe the Change:
A new column will be inserted before the selected column.
Method 2: Using the Right-Click Context Menu
Select the Column:
Right-click on the column heading where you want to insert a new column. As before, I will click on the column heading D.
Insert a Column:
From the context menu, select 'Insert'.
Multiple Columns:
To insert multiple columns, select the number of columns you want to insert using column headings. For instance, select five columns and then use either of the two methods to insert columns.
Recap:
You can insert columns using the Ribbon or the right-click context menu. This allows you to efficiently add new data to your spreadsheet.
