FINALLY! Our Pre-Order Arrived After Almost A MONTH
It's finally here, we finally have a resolution, and this can finally be the last post that I make about this. I discussed over the course of the last 30 days that I had pre-ordered a copy of the Nintendo World Championships NES Edition from my local GameStop store. I've also shared how they never got any copies in for their pre-orders. It wasn't just me, but other people were affected. Finally, after 29 days of waiting, I finally got my copy. Here's how everything went down, and I'm thrilled that this saga is finally over as our pre-order arrived after almost a month.
I've shared how I've gone to this store several times in recent weeks and either they did not have inventory or they were actually closed during normal operating hours. I happened to run into the store one day after my wife and I went grocery shopping at the store right behind it. I felt like taking a chance because the website actually showed that they had inventory on hand. I went into the store and sure enough, there was a copy of the game sitting on the counter.
At this point I knew the associate really didn't have much to say or do with anything going on with running the store, he's just clocking hours and earning a paycheck. I mentioned to him that I'm glad to see that he finally had stock on hand and I would like to pick up my pre-order. He said that would be awesome except for the fact that they hadn't gotten any copies in for me. I pointed to the one sitting on the counter and asked what about that one, why could he not sell me that one. His reply: you didn't pre-order the deluxe edition, you just pre-ordered the standard version.
This did not surprise me but it surprised me at the same time. See, I did actually pre-order the Deluxe Edition, at least that what I told the associate who rang up my pre-order. The associate in the store apologized, said that I probably did and the person who took my pre-order probably no longer works there anymore. He said he had contacted his district manager to ask how to handle the situation, but his DM had not gotten back to him.
Good news for me is I finally have my copy of the Nintendo World Championships NES Edition. I was half waiting for the associate to ask if I was going to pre-order anything else moving forward, but thankfully he showed some common sense and did not waste either of our time. It's unfortunate that this store has degraded to this point, but at least I can walk away and never have to deal with them again.
