Jordan describes the personality profile of the two groups.
He says that conservatives are high in consciousness, especially orderliness and low in trait openness.
That means that they like to put things in boxes then put those boxes in order and doesn’t like them to be rearranged. They like the borders between things to be clear and unchanging.
The question we must ask ourselves is “which side is right” and the answer Jordan tells us is that we don’t know. Both must communicate and work together for a common good.
The discourse could sound like this:
Liberals “If we open the gates we can trade with one another in a mutually beneficial relationship.” Conservatives “Or perhaps the foreigners will bring in a plague of diseases that our bodies cannot fend off?”
