Since we are planning our return to Central Utah this November (here’s the Workshop Link! - https://bit.ly/4cxiCQ3), I was reviewing some old images from the area that I hadn’t gotten around to editing. As I was scrolling in Lightroom, I came across this dramatic, but very dark, shot of a passing storm in Snow Canyon State Park. I had obviously exposed to protect the bright clouds, but the foreground went really - almost ridiculously - dark.
We’ve all had this happen when shooting very high contrast scenes, so let’s see if Lightroom Classic can bring out the photo that made me stop to take this picture.
You can see the sun hitting the sides of the rock formations, so the foreground was obviously much brighter. In this demonstration, we use Lightroom’s masking capabilities to see if we can bring out a great photo.
Can we do it? Watch and find out!
