Curtains are not only a decorative element, but also an accessory that will help transform a room and make it more comfortable. Thanks to the huge selection of textiles, you can choose any quality, color, density. For all this splendor you have to pay quite a bit of money.
But sometimes beauty can be created from almost nothing and it won’t cost a penny.
To do this, you need to use your imagination and figure out how to do it. The ideal solution is to use old tulle or the remnants of new tulle that are formed after hemming. Now the curtains are 3 meters long and a strip of 35–40 cm remains.
Oddly enough, in combination with white fabric you can sew beautiful romantic curtains for the kitchen, loggia, bedroom or other room.
Here's how to do it:
1) For my curtain I used tulle cut in the shape of a rectangle. And for framing I took a white sheet. These parts will be fastened together using ties.
2) First I took measurements, measured my window, the glass size was 60 x 120 cm, so I made 6 rectangles 30 x 40 cm.
3) I drew a template on paper and marked borders 4 cm wide and marks for ties. For them, I cut strips from a sheet, 6 cm wide, 1 cm each for seams.
To make the curtain look good inside and outside, I used this treatment.
How to make a corner:
I attached a strip of fabric to one side. In the corner I folded the strip, aligning the sides, then folded it again, but at an angle of 45 degrees.
I marked a point, or rather two, when you turn the corner it turns out like this.
Now the line is laid to the first point and interrupted, a bartack is made.
Again, the strip is folded directly and combined with the first point, a line is made from it to the next corner.
Since I have ties, I marked the places of the ties between the corners. I did all this according to a template.
For the ties I used a narrow satin ribbon, 23 cm long.
Then I stitched the corners diagonally, not reaching the edge 1 cm, cut off the excess fabric, and smoothed the seam.
Turned the side right side out. I turned the edges inward 1 cm and stitched.
The result is an openwork rectangle.
I tied all 6 fragments together with bows.
A curtain with ties covers part of the window. She looks smart, but not too strict and formal.
To change the length and width of the curtain, you just need to tie the ties.
