I bought a plastic duck for the pond at Fix Price. But I will use it completely differently
We love Fix Price for affordable prices and practical household goods, many of which can be remade, repainted, or changed. To do this, you need to look at the thing from the other side and show your imagination.
Fix Price sells decorative ducks for the pond all summer for 59 rubles. At first I was indifferent to them, but then I wanted to make home decor out of them.
First I bought one and made a towel rack out of it.
This time I will make a vintage box out of it, I saw a similar one on the Internet. There was a chicken like pot with a lid for serving sweets, jams and whatever.
In both cases the duck had to be cut.
Since it is plastic, it is easy to cut with a knife or a metal file.
Here's what I did:
1. Cut off the bottom of the duck. Now the top part will be the lid.
2. For the box itself, I took an empty cardboard spool of tape, cut it in height, squeezed it on all sides and formed an oval. It turned out to be exactly the size of the cut bottom.
3. I connected these parts with tape.
4. I will make a solid clay bowl from this paper bowl. The office supply store sells self-hardening clay for such purposes.
I rolled out the pancake and distributed it outside and inside the box.
5. I made protruding sides around the edges so that the lid seemed to be inside.
I squeezed out the feathers on the sides with a knife. Left it to dry overnight.
6. After drying, the clay became hard, like ceramics.
7. Now I tried to give the box a vintage look.
First I waxed it. Then, paint with pastel green acrylic paint using a dry brush. Added blue color. I mazyukala as best I could.
As a result, my duck and the bowl itself became this color. I like.
I coated my creation with acrylic varnish on top.
I will store brooches and various jewelry in the box, and maybe sewing pins and needles.
