1) I bought a cheap blanket, but not to cover myself. I'll show you what new thing I turned it into
I will sew a vest that will be useful at home for keeping warm and outside when it gets warmer.
The pattern is the simplest, you can take it from Burda or trace it on any suitable clothing. - for example, a jacket, which is what I made.
For convenience, I turned the sleeves inside.
First I sewed the shoulder and side seams. Now you can do the fitting, at this stage all errors are eliminated. I deepened the neckline a little and cut the armholes at the front by 1.5 cm.
I placed another layer of fabric on the reverse side of the shelves.
The sleeves were a little puffy at the front, so I added small darts. All these manipulations took no more than 10 minutes.
The seams do not need to be overcast, the fleece does not fray, you can trim them with curly scissors.
I made a stitch along the neckline line.
Further processing of shelves and sleeves. To do this, I cut strips of brown fleece on the bias, 5 cm wide, and stitched them together into bias tape.
I attached it to the vest on the wrong side and stitched it. Then she turned it right side out. Now you can sew it with a zigzag or a simple stitch.
I also processed the armholes.
I hemmed the bottom of the vest.
I sewed loops for buttons, stitched them on the right shelf after 13 cm. Sewed on the buttons.
A vest without pockets is not a vest.
A convenient thing for home that you can’t buy in a store is ready.
It is warm and cozy, and most importantly, you can sew it yourself with minimal sewing skills.

2) “I know for sure that you will find a use for them,” said a friend and gave me new trousers. And I turned them into a new, elegant thing.
If the fabric is new, then you can sew a women's vest from them. The best style for this alteration is when the pattern consists of several parts.
For the vest, I cut out 4 parts for the back and 4 parts for the shelves. My friend’s corduroy trousers were just enough for me.
First I connected the back parts, then the front.
I stitched the side and shoulder seams.
Using the same pattern, I sewed the lining. All front parts were cut end-to-end, so there will be no hems. There wasn't enough fabric for this.
I laid a stabilizing stitch along the neck line.
How to connect the lining and the vest itself. There are certain rules on how to do this. But sometimes you want to do it your own way. This time I folded both parts with the right sides inward and stitched the sleeve cap. But when I started to turn it inside out, nothing happened, I had to rip everything apart.
Therefore, I laid a line around the vest: along the neckline, front and bottom of the product - here I left room for turning it inside out.
I turned the vest inside out and straightened out all the corners. This is what it looks like.
I folded the armholes through the hole so that when attached, the lining and the main parts were turned with their right sides, for this purpose I turned the parts towards each other.
I straightened the vest and sewed the finishing stitch.
I swept out the loops and sewed on the buttons.
The vest is ready, you can wear it with a turtleneck, shirt, or under a jacket.
It will look good with both a skirt and trousers.

3) The son-in-law didn’t know that the mother-in-law was a jack of all trades, and wanted to throw away his jacket. I took it, remade it, and now I can’t take it off.
I immediately saw the potential in it - the jacket would make a good vest.
First, I tore off the sleeves on the jacket itself and the lining.
Then I made repairs: I sewed up the pockets, removed the darned threads and sewed up the ripped side seam. I inserted a new dog into the zipper. Immediately a different look.
I connected the armhole of the jacket and the lining, stitched in a circle.
The most basic question is the processing of the armhole. How to get closer to factory technology.
I will treat it with a knitted elastic band. I cut it from an old sweatshirt.
To find the length of the elastic, I measured the length of the armhole and cut the elastic 4 cm shorter.
I connected the elastic band into a circle, folded it in half, one edge turned out to be folded. I made two opposite marks on the elastic band.
Attached the elastic to the armhole of the vest on the wrong side. I connected one mark to the shoulder seam, the other to the side seam. When I sewed the elastic, I stretched it.
Turned the elastic right side out. In this case, it is better to hand-baste it to the jacket and then stitch it, since knitwear tends to stretch.
It happens that some things are sewn from new fabric, a complex style, a lot of work, and then they are not worn.
But this hiking vest was remade in a couple of hours, now it looks decent and is a pleasure to wear. My son-in-law only wears it and goes to work every day.
