Poppies pop?
I absolutely LOVE growing California poppies, and this is one of my favorite things about them.
After the plant flowers, the petals fall off. A green seed pod will develop right in the middle of where the bloom was, and that eventually turns brown and brittle.
As the seed pods develop, they'll get to a point where you can touch them, and it's like a spring-loaded seed cannon. It will open and shoot seeds all over!
You can also hear them pop, especially on warm summer days.
