6 Essential Fall Garden Chores For Zone 9/10
Fall is NOT the time to get lazy in the garden! There is so much to do!
If you only have limited time or (like us) a little one in tow, here are the 6 ESSENTIAL garden choices for fall.
1- mulch- if you watch my channel or follow me, you know that I’m obsessed with Mulch and the benefits are incredible especially to zone nine and 10 garden.
2- in our garden and on our farm, basil tends to really take off in the fall. It’s important that you continue to prune off the flowers so that you get lots of lush leaf production to enjoy in the kitchen.
3-make sure you continue to deadhead spent blooms on many of the heat, loving flowers so that you can have beautiful blooming plants all the way into early winter.
4-there’s still plenty of time to succession plant sunflowers, zinnias, and other heat, loving flowers. (For Zone9/10)
5-It’s hot but It’s time to prepare for cool season planting! Get your pots and your potting soil ready, order your seeds and start seeding cool season seeds now. (Brassicas in particular)
6-Even though it’s hard, it’s important to pull out nonproductive tomato plants as they can harbor disease and pest that spread to other parts of your garden.
