Hello guys namaste, welcome back to Androtrix! After the long wait Mia1 finally got the Android pie update and it indeed is packed with tons of features.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to install the Android Pie and its new features so without wasting any further time lets get started.
Starting off with the first feature that is how you can get the pixel navigation bar on your device. For that, you have to go to settings - Gestures - Swipe up on Home Button option. One of the best parts about this feature is that you can easily switch between recently used apps by swiping on the home button. You can also toggle between apps by sliding your fingers on this button.
Digital Wellbeing:
Another awesome feature of Android Pie is the Digital wellbeing feature. By default you won't find it in apps drawer you have to go to settings search for digital wellbeing and then enable it so that it shows up on your home screen. Once you are in the digital wellbeing app you can see how many notifications you have received and the number of times you have opened your applications. This is an amazing feature to stop using phones for a longer duration. You can set the timer for the apps by going to the Dashboard and set times so that the app turns monochrome when the time is up.
Rotate Button:
I personally hate when that happens and this new Feature can eliminate it completely. even when you do not have the screen rotation turned on the phone will give you this icon to rotate the screen for that instance which you can use. When you rotate back it'll again show the icon which is actually a lifesaver.
Dark theme:
Android Oreo on Pixel has a feature wherein the theme changes automatically based on your wallpaper, they have improvised on that feature and now you get the option to choose the theme on your desire. It is inside the display settings - advanced - Device theme and here you go. Oops, here you go. Oh, umm never mind. It requires a restart I'm not sure if its the flow or this is the bug.
Wind Down:
Another amazing feature of Google Digital Wellbeing is the wind-down mode.
It automatically turns on the night mode when its dark so that you don't strain your eyes with Blue lights that emit from your device. Once you hit the Wind downtime, the phone turns off all the colors so that your device becomes grayscale which basically won't let you enjoy your smartphone experience. It also turns the dnd mode on so that you are not distracted by the notifications.
Magnification:
Another added feature with the Pie update is that you can now see the text you're selecting in magnification. There's no need to turn it on from somewhere or something, it's already built into the update.
Accessibility menu:
Another feature which can be highly useful is the accessibility button on the bottom of the screen. To enable the button you have to go to settings - accessibility - accessibility menu. You can lock the phone, wake the assistant, jump to recent apps, increase decrease volume, jump into quick settings and much more as you can see on the screen.
Lastly, you can also check the number of notifications you get per application by going to digital wellbeing and then selecting the manage notification. If you really wanna focus on something beyond your smartphone, ideally you should turn the notifications for that application off unless it's very important.
This will help you use less of the phone and be more in the real world.
