Hello, guys namaste! Welcome back to AndroTrix. before I start this video I just want to thank each one of you for watching my previous video. It's crazy that we have already crossed 10k views on that video. I also believe that it is because of the hype which Poco have generated with the Snapdragon 845 keyword. Yes, I agree that arguably it's the best value for money smartphone but things aren't as it seems on outside. In this video, I would like to talk about the problems with Poco F1 and things you should be aware of before buying one.
Now a big disclaimer, these aren't just my personal opinions, I'm in a group on telegram with over 2000 people who owns the Poco f1 and I have noticed all these problems being reported over and over again by everyone. so if you tell me that you're not facing the problem, just get on the group via the link given below and say thanks androtrix once you join in and read the chats.
I'll start with the problems which you will see upfront as soon as you start using this device and later on go with the things which you might find if you go into the detail or if you go on the internet looking for problems.
So starting off, Poco F1 has a lot of problems with how they manage notifications like I already mentioned in my initial Impressions video that the notch on this phone is so big to house the Infrared sensor that you don't get notification icons on the notification bar which is kind of a bummer because every other smartphone on Android shows you the notification icons along with the notch. This thing can be fixed with the software update to at least show 3 icons on the notification panel without sliding it down.
The Second problem, you'll come across is that the device doesn't come out of the box with quick charger, It literally takes forever to charge this device up and I'm not used to it as well. This is kind of a subjective point where if you're coming from some other MI device then you won't feel the difference but trust me when I say this that it is as slow as it can be. My words about the charging speed are highly influenced by the fact that I've been used to dash charger but Dash Charger is in the different league and I'm not even comparing it with dash charge.
Moving on, being a fan of stock Android experience and highly keen about the Android features, It was really depressing to see that the Poco F1 doesn't support the "ok Google" hotword detection. There's no way for you to wake the google assistant via voice command, I looked up over miui forums and they have acknowledged this problem and they're investigating this further and would try and resolve it via OTA update.
Talking about the next problem, the Poco F1 cannot play HD videos on DRM content websites like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Google Play Movies. The lack of a Widevine L1 license limits the Poco F1’s video playing capability to a maximum of 540p. One may argue that 540p and 720p has a very minor difference but knowing that it is not supported on Poco F1 is a bummer. Also, even if the Poco solves this issue, you'll have to go to a service center to fix this issue as this cannot be fixed via the OTA update.
Moving on to a really controversial topic, the screen bleed issue with the Poco F1. I don't get the hype people are creating over it. The screen bleed issue is basically when you see the glow at the edge of the smartphone especially at the bottom in the case of Poco F1. People are being too picky about this one, my phone apparently has the screen bleeding issue Also, this is really random, not all smartphone are having this problem, you can check if you're device is having this problem by long pressing the power button and then taking the phone to some dark place.
Now, moving on, the last part is about all the bugs you'll find in the MIUI or in this device in general. Also for people having OCD, stay away from this device. The notch gives the content sharpness and it has a curve at the bottom which is really annoying to see, especially when you're going to watch the video.
Also, the USB connector which comes out of the box is very loose and it wobbles a lot, after using more than 8/10 android devices from the different company, I have seen this kind of a problem for the first time.
