Hello Guys namaste, welcome back to Androtrix! I know it's been a while but yes I'm back and I would be regular henceforth. I'll be making a video as to what and where I was but this video is about the brand new phone which is making a lot of buzz in the tech segment! I got the Poco F1 in the first sale itself and right over the top, I have to mention that they did a really good job with the flash sale this time. It was better than any other smartphone sale by Xiaomi and right there I had a positive vibe about this phone! So yes. I have been using this for over 2 days now and this is my initial impressions on the Poco F1!
I have to say that I was also impressed by the unboxing experience! The yellow Black combination did stand out and felt quite premium. It comes with some manuals, a cover, the phone itself, the charger and the cord and the sim ejector tool! Pretty simply nothing fancy!
Now I knew that this phone has the MIUI and if you know I'm not a big fan of the MIUI so my expectations on the overall UI was too low but surprisingly setting up the phone was fairly similar to stock like experience and it did give me a different vibe. Once the setup was done I was happy to see that it has an app drawer just like a pixel or OnePlus devices and it felt more like the semi skinned stock Android interface!
Now as much as I loved the interface beyond my expectations the design let me down equally! First of all the phone is super thick, like not even kidding it feels thick and heavy compared to any other phone I have used. Also, forget about the notch, even the bottom chin is as big as it can get! Now I do understand it's a 20000 phone with specifications way better then what other competitors offer but this big chin is not acceptable! Coming to the top, boy oh boy I hate this notch! Not only it's the biggest notch I have ever seen on any device but the main reason to hate this notch is that because of the notch you don't get any notification icon symbols on the notification bar. Like seriously right now I might have messages on Gmail, WhatsApp, Twitter and I would never know unless I expand the notification bar which is quite a bummer!
Moving on the UI again! We'll like I said it's pretty neat, even the settings look customized for Poco F1 and don't give the MIUI feeling. I also love how they have added features similar to the Oxygen OS like changing icon pack without downloading third party launcher, three finger slide for the screenshot, reading mode etc. The only thing I dislike about the MIUI, in general, is the bloatware and the default apps which they have! They have also set the default app to open links to Mi Browser which is annoying to another level! Although that can be changed from the settings why Poco! Why would you do that to your users!
Moving on to the camera! Again I never really expected the camera to be even considered as the camera is one place where they can sacrifice to give the phone with such good specifications at an unbelievable price! But to my surprise, the camera is unimaginably awesome! I took a few sample photos and although it does smooth out the entire photo a bit, it still turns out to be pretty detailed and vibrant.
The battery life on this phone is astonishing! The day I unboxed this device it was at 55% when I took it out of the box and I did my full setup from scratch which is already battery consuming but over it I also watch Netflix for well over 1 hour the first day itself with my OnePlus wireless bullets and that's over 4 hours of SOT with just half of the battery charged! But again the bigger battery has its own caveats. It takes forever to charge and it feels like some kind of punishment as I'm coming from OnePlus devices! Arguably OnePlus Dash Charged is the most addictive feature of OnePlus which can keep users stick to the brand! Anyway like I said I never charged this Phone to 100 because I never have 3 hours of free time in one shot. Maybe I will do it for review soon but even 50% is enough for my entire day's usage so I'm really looking forward to its optimal performance.
