Under no circumstances should you skip spring pruning of fruit trees. The amount of harvest depends on this. There are many tips on the Internet on how to do this.
It doesn't always turn out like in the picture. But we understood one thing: there is no need to thicken the crown, so we cut off the branches that grow inward and do not allow the tree to grow in height.
Every year on our plum and pear, which are more than 15 years old, long straight shoots grow on the top of their heads. We cut them off and use these branches as a support for tomatoes, cucumbers and other plants. The quantity of the harvest does not suffer from this; in summer and autumn we don’t know what to do with the fruit.
This is not the only way to use branches. They make nice wicker fences and decorative fences. If you fold long branches into a house, you will get an excellent support for climbing flowers or beans.
There are a huge number of ways to attach branches.
Another way that is worth attention is to create flower pots from branches. Today I made a hanging planter and it turned out right the first time.
For work you will need branches of approximately the same thickness.
1) First, I cut two sticks with pruning shears and tied them with two ropes of the same length. The rope must be strong and not stretch.
2) Then she turned over the branches and the ropes crossed themselves.
3) I placed the next two branches on top, perpendicular to the first.
The size of the flowerpot depends on the length of these 4 branches. The longer they are, the larger the pots. If the branches are the same length, you will get a square flowerpot, and if they are different, then you will get a rectangular one.
4) In this way, 2 branches are laid on top of each other under the ropes. They shrink to form a cone. The branches must be moved towards the edge all the time.
5) When the branches are laid and the rope has pulled the structure together, we make the bottom from several sticks.
Thanks to this weave, a strong frame is obtained.
6) Lastly, I cut off all the long branches at the corners.
Ready.
You can cover the flowerpot with film, fill it with soil and plant flowers, or place a ready-made pot with a flower inside.
Do not throw away or burn such valuable material, but use it usefully.
