Hear the Chilling Words that Ended the Battle for Boulogne
On September 22, 1944, as World War 2 was slowly drawing to a close, 9th Canadian Infantry Brigade commander J.M. Rockingham wrote a demand that the surrounded last German defenders of Boulogne, France, quote, "surrender or die from flames."
Upon hearing this message, the Germans promptly surrendered, bringing the fighting at Boulogne to an end.
