Remembering the Fallen: Bretteville-Sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery
Bretteville-Sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery is one of two major Canadian cemeteries in Normandy.
This cemetery contains graves of some of the troops murdered at the Abbaye d'Ardenne in June 1944, including Private Ivan Crowe, Corporal Joseph MacIntyre, Trooper Roger Lockhead, Trooper Harold Philp, Lieutenant Thomas Windsor, Private Walter Michael Doherty, Private Hugh MacDonald, Private George McNaughton, Private George Millar, Private Thomas Mont, and Private Raymond Moore.
Two commanders of the Black Watch of Canada, Major Frederick Philip Griffin and Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Cantlie, who were killed in the fight for Verrières Ridge, Lieutenant Colonel Donald Worthington, the namesake and commander of Worthington Force, and numerous Allied aircrew killed during World War 2.
