After a successful defense of his WBC title, Devin Haney (26-0, 15 KOs) demonstrated his improved jab and solid defense against Jorge Linares (47-6, 29 KOs), controlling most of the fight. Haney was comfortably ahead through the first nine rounds until a dramatic moment in the 10th round, when Linares landed a clean right hand that briefly staggered Haney.

Following the punch, Haney’s approach noticeably shifted as he frequently clinched with Linares, signaling that he had not fully recovered. Despite the numerous clinches, the referee did not issue any warnings, leading to fan frustration and boos during the later rounds and Haney's post-fight interview. The judges awarded Haney a unanimous decision with scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 115-113, though I personally scored the fight more decisively at 117-111.

After the fight, Haney maintained that he was never hurt and expressed his willingness to unify titles against Teofimo Lopez if the chance arises.
