Frank Martin wrapped up 2022 with a commanding win over Michel Rivera on Showtime, securing a unanimous decision victory after 12 rounds in a bout that never seemed in doubt.

The judges scored the fight 117-110, 118-109, and 120-107, with Bad Left Hook also giving Martin a 120-107 score. This bout, a WBA eliminator, positions Martin for a potential title shot against one of the belts currently held by Devin Haney.

With an undefeated record of 17-0 with 12 KOs, Martin has gained significant momentum this year, having previously defeated Romero Duno, Jackson Marinez, and now Rivera. Despite the challenges posed by these opponents, none seriously threatened the 28-year-old "Ghost," who is promoted by Errol Spence Jr. and trained by Derrick James.

While Martin’s performance was impressive, Rivera (24-1, 14 KOs) struggled throughout the fight. The 24-year-old Dominican made several tactical errors early on and seemed overwhelmed by Martin’s speed and precision. Rivera’s few successes were largely due to Martin's occasional lapses in activity rather than any significant achievements on Rivera's part. Rivera was also knocked down in the seventh round and never seemed fully engaged in the bout. Although Rivera is young and has room for improvement, he will need to make adjustments going forward.

It’s also worth noting that Martin’s potential may be considerable, as he has expressed confidence in his abilities as he heads into 2023.
