"PAST THE STARS" (Demon) by ClingingBog | Geometry Dash 2.2
I've personally never heard of ClingingBog before, so this was a great introduction to their creating. "PAST THE STARS" is nearly 3 minutes long, and I'd say it's reminiscent of some of my personal favorites in recent times, such as "WELL RESTED". Obviouslly, this is partially due to the longer length, but mostly due to the visuals used in the level. It's got some similar designs and decorations throughout the level, such as in the emphasis on stars and other space elements, with some nature mixed in too. What I noticed most myself is how this also goes for a narrower aspect ratio, near 4:3, until the climax at 2:00, which is when it turns fullscreen. "WELL RESTED" was the first level I tried that did this, and it hit incredibly hard then. I can't say it's as successful here, maybe due to less length before it, but also because the novelty has worn off a bit. It's still cool to see creators play around with limiting aspect ratio, though, so I hope this continues.
In the first paragraph, I talked a lot about this level's similarities to "WELL RESTED", which is a huge compliment by the way, but it also stands nicely on its own. For example, the middle parts go in completely different directions with some glitchy effects (1:01) and even full-blown art (1:48). Admittedly, these don't as well with the other parts, but it does give the level more of a "travel" vibe in how it varies its visuals from part to part. Aside from the visuals, I also found this quite enjoyable to beat. Despite the length, it stays rather consistent throughout, with only a few transitions being a bit quick, such as at 1:01. After one practice run, it should be quick to beat. All in all, I think this will get an Epic Easy Demon rating.
