"CYBER INFINITY" (Demon) by Extrox, Optation & Destriv | Geometry Dash 2.2
This level came out right around the end of the NCS Gauntlet Contest, so I didn't really have time to play it and upload it back then. Now, a few weeks later, it's still not rated, but it's still definitely worth seeing, so better late than never I guess. Hopefully it gets rated soon too. The song used is actually a NCS one, which made me surprised it wasn't submitted. Personally, I'd probably put this in my top 20 and I could see the other judges doing so as well, so it could've won some money if it was submitted. After all, it does follow all the rules.
So why do I think this could've had a chance? Well, first of all, it has a really nice mix of cool designs and effects. The block designs have a nice balance of detail, while the effects, found in both the background and foreground, add a lot to the music synchronization. While the effects may not be most original by themselves, they still work well with the other visuals to make for cool parts. Every part also uses good colors with pulses that match the song too.
A very important aspect that ended up separating levels in the top 20 was gameplay. So many entries had great visuals for the style they went for, but minor gameplay issues, including performance, was present at times. This level doesn't have any of that in my opinion; it flows very well from start to finish, even when it picks up the speed. The gameplay always remains intuitive thanks to clear designs and good music synchronization. I'm also surprised by how consistent it is overall, both visually and gameplay-wise, considering it's made by three different creators. They did a really good job on this, so I can't see it getting anything less than an Epic Easy Demon rating.
