Cruzan Black Strap Rum deserves a chance!
Cruzan. Perhaps it's our own ignorance that made us pass this bottle off as an 'oh boy, here we go' episode. It may have been the dim memory of Cruzan being yanked from the depths of the dive bar well to covered in shame with Coke. Regardless, a miscalculation was made. Yes, the Cruzan Black Strap is surprisingly tasty, albeit a one note punch. This shouldn't come as a shock, but if you dislike molasses, you're going to hate this rum. However, if you're a fan, you're in luck. This rum is a singular homage to black strap molasses without being overly sweet. Some more subtle tones bring out a bit of smokiness and vanilla. Is this the best rum you'll have? Absolutely not. Is it very much tastier than the current $17.99/bottle would make it seem? A resounding yes. This is a great bottle to have in your bar. Cheers!
