In the summer heat, everyone wants to drink water: not only people, but also birds, bees and all kinds of insects. To do this, it would be good to place a bowl of water in the garden, and it should also be a decoration for the garden and please the eye.
I think the best location for a waterer is an open area, but there should also be trees nearby so that the birds fly there and come back. Birds can also bathe and wash their feathers in this bowl.
The depth of the drinking bowl will be 7–10 cm.
I will make a bowl out of cement like this:
I prepared the solution in the following proportions - 1: 2: 6, water, cement, sand. I didn’t follow the grams, everything is approximate, if the solution turns out dry, you need to add water.
The consistency turned out to be like sour cream.
I wanted the bowl to be the color of a clay pot. To do this, I added a red color; it would have been better to use an orange color, but it turned out beautifully; in the sun, the bowl will fade over time anyway.
Important point. You need to select two plastic cups so that one fits into the other. It’s better not to take metal ones, as the product can stick tightly, I had experience.
I placed the finished solution in a larger cup. About half, plus or minus. I tapped the walls well to let the air out.
I pressed the second cup into the mortar and pressed it down with bricks, you need to make sure that the wall thickness is the same.
The next day the lower cup was easily removed, the surface of the concrete was smooth, like an egg.
A day later I took out another cup. It turned out perfect. This is the first time that everything worked out the first time; usually I redo all cement crafts 2-3 times.
I left it to dry for another day. If the weather is hot, if it’s cool, it’s better to dry longer.
For decoration, I had made figurines of birds. I glued them to the edge using diluted cement.
We have a pond made of concrete, and it is covered with liquid glass on top, so I also painted the finished bowl with glass. Liquid glass is sold in construction stores, it is cheap, last year we bought it for 60 rubles per bottle.
It would be nice to put the drinker on a beautiful leg so that it rises above the flowers. I made a cabinet out of red bricks, laid boards on top, I liked the result, but it’s not final.
I’ve already seen the neighbor’s cat drink some water.
