Welcome to this weeks guitar lick, that is Lick Friday Week 440!!!! Woohoo! 440 Licks to learn.....Jump to it then!
This weeks lick is a guitar lick inspired by Slash. I know this will divide the viewers but I love Slash, he has a superb way of playing and sounds just awesome with it. You cannot argue that Slash has been the main soundtrack to millions of lives for well over 30 years, through original bands like Guns n Roses, Velvet Revolver, Slash's Snakepit and Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. His collaboration with many other artist along the way just prove how influential his playing is. His phrasing is killer and effortless, the simplicity of his playing captivates and sounds so great in that he uses mainly Blues based scales to create something far larger that the tools used. We will never be Slash but we can capture some of the essence to help forge a sound that's is similar to his own killer way of playing. Learning the blues and pentatonic scales in full five shape glory will enable you to run over the entire fretboard, as does Slash but to further that sound to can add the Natural Minor scales and Harmonic Minor also. Anyway, enough of the blurb, have a go at this weeks killer guitar lick and see how you get on! Have a great weekend...
