Tchaikovsky 'Intermezzo' - Orchestral Suite No. 1 - Dmitriev conducts
Tchaikovsky's four Orchestral Suites all contain much lovely music, so it's curious that these days they seem to be seldom heard in the concert hall or on the radio. The First Suite, said to be rooted in the world of the 'ballet divertissement,' had a highly successful premiere in Moscow in 1869 under Nikolai Rubinstein's baton. The "Intermezzo" is the third of the six movements and in this 1978 recording the Leningrad Philharmonic is conducted by Aleksander Dmitriev.
