In 1961, Stokowski was engaged to make a recording some way outside his usual repertoire. It was entitled "Inspiration" and he was to conduct the Norman Luboff Choir in a sequence of short choral arrangements of pieces by Bach, Handel, Gluck, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. Also included from Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" was the 'Evening Prayer.' The recording was made in London with the New Symphony Orchestra and it was the Ambrosian Singers who provided the choir which, for the recording's purposes, took the choral director's name.

Norman Luboff made the choral arrangements and the orchestrations were provided by Walter Stott who, as Wally Stott, became familiar to BBC radio listeners in the 1950s. However, in later life, Stott underwent 'reassignment surgery' and came out publicly as a woman in 1972, choosing the name Angela Morley.

The RCA "Living Stereo" CD was originally issued by RCA/BMG but it also features in a Decca "Phase 4 Stereo" boxed set of all Stokowski's recordings for that company.
